Resting In His Perfect Plans

As I prior mentioned, the house sale fell apart...at present we have no buyer for it. It would be a perfect opportunity to become discouraged; the enemy is stealth at using what God has meant for good, to dishearten us along the trail our heavenly Father has marked out for us. However, we must remember that His ways are truly not our ways. (Isaiah 55:8)  In today's Crosswalk, the article "The Art of Not Taking Offense" by J. Scott McElroy, stated the following:

"In my case or yours, when we encounter an unexpected twist in following God’s leading, He may just be cooking up something that we couldn’t imagine. We may never know exactly what He was doing. Or it may be about our personal growth. Either way, if I choose to take offense at how things seemingly turn out, I miss out on the joy of the adventure God is including me in; that joy of letting go of control, going with His flow, and trusting Him with the results."

May we trust and rest in His perfect plan...plans that are considering eternity in everything He chooses for us.
“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” ~Exodus 33:14

Contentment in light of eternity

As I mentioned this weekend, our prior house sale fell through on Friday. In last night's devotion from Tabletalk, David Murray states in his article, Dangerous Dollars, that "To build contentment, he (Paul) urges us to meditate especially on our empty-wallet departure from this world.... Contentment develops best in the light of eternity."
"Now godliness with contentment is great gain.  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." ~ 1 Tim. 6:6-7

It Is But A Good Night

"...It is but a good night to those we hope to see with joy in the morning." ~Matthew Henry
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." ~John 14:1-3

God Is Good All the Time

God Is Good, All the Time (sung by Paul Overstreet)

Chorus:
God is good all the time
He put a song of praise in this heart of mine
God is good all the time
Through the darkest night, His light will shine
God is good, God is good all the time

1. If you're walking through the valley
And there are shadows all around
Do not fear, He will guide you
He will keep you safe and sound
'Cause He's promised to never leave you
Nor forsake you and His Word is true

Chorus

2. We were sinners - so unworthy
Still for us He chose to die
Filled us with His Holy Spirit
Now we can stand and testify
That His love is everlasting
And His mercies - they will never end

Chorus

3. Lord I may not understand
All the plans He left for me
My life is in your hands
And through the eyes of Him

I can clearly see

Chorus

You Can Trust If He Asks You To Wait

There was a contract on our prior house and right at the end, on Friday the 11th, the buyers were told they could not get 100% financing, after all. So our house sale has fallen through. We are so disappointed, yet we know God knows what He is doing...He always does. He has always shown that His answers are better than ours, so we know we can trust Him in this, despite our overwhelming disappointment that for now, our prior place is not sold.

How interesting that in my In Touch devotional by Charles Stanley, on Friday, the 11th, it said this:
"God wants us to be mature believers who have the character and self-restraint to wait for Him to provide in His perfect time. Because the heavenly Father is omniscient, He alone knows what's best. You can trust that if He ask you to wait, He has something more wonderful in mind than you could ever provide for yourself."
"Out of the depths I call to You, Yahweh! Lord, listen to my voice; let Your ears be attentive to my cry for help.....
I wait for Yahweh; I wait and put my hope in His word." ~Psalm 130:1-2,5

The Promise of Resurrection

"Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone but in every leaf of springtime." ~Martin Luther
"...The whole earth is full of His glory." ~Isaiah 6:3

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.'" ~John 11:25
