This Era Will Pass So Quickly...

On one of my flip calendars, it said this for today:
"This era will pass so quickly, and the present stresses will seem insignificant and remote. What will matter to you at the end of life will be the loving relationships you built with your family and your readiness to meet the Lord." ~James Dobson
I love that! Makes me think of a book that I just finished reading, Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker. One of the things I kept thinking over and over, while reading it, was how insignificant most things are, except for what really matters...loving our family, and serving the Lord. All else is gone in the blink of an eye.
"...earth will pass away, but my words will not...." ~Matthew 24:35
Oh Lord, we scurry about so...help us remember that in the big scheme of things, much of this is so very insignificant. Guide us in all that we do, that we may "number our days...[with] a heart of wisdom" (Psalm 90:12).

A Mother's Prayers Never End...

"O Lord of love, who art not far from any of Thy children, watch with Thy care those who are far away from us; be Thou about their path; be Thou within their hearts; be Thou their defense upon their right hand. Give them unfailing trust in Thee; grant them power against temptation; qualify them for whatever task Thou givest them to do; deliver them from the snare of setting duty aside; make it their joy to do Thy will. Let not distance break the bonds of love which bind them to us and to Thee, but knit us closer in thy love, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord." ~Boyd Carpenter, quoted in the book Five Minutes a Day, c. 1929.
"Children are a heritage from the Lord...." ~Psalm 127:3

God Is Still On His Throne...

We watch the news, and we see right being made wrong, and wrong being made right. It can seem disheartening at times, but keep looking up. He IS still on His throne.
"Do not even such things as are most bitter to the flesh, tend to awaken Christians to faith and prayer, to a sight of the emptiness of this world, and the fadingness of the best it yield?" ~John Bunyan
Keep looking up!
"I have a great need for Christ; [and praise God] I have a great Christ for my need." ~Charles Haddon Spurgeon
He will always be on His throne...oh what joy!
"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” ~John 16:33
