God Has Made it Evident

Home

by Kathleen Higham

Misty rain tapping on the window
Heavy fog blankets a mountaintop
An absolutely beautiful array
Words flow, I simply cannot stop.

Lush green valleys all around me
Dogwoods peeking from the pines
Hills rolling and towering mighty
Another of my God's designs.

Going up, up, up so high
Then to the craggy rocks below
A song of West Virginia echoes
Lyrics I once used to know.

Take me home country roads
Before a tunnel dims the sky
The sun is just a breath away
As mountains disappear, I sigh.

How I love to see the flowers
Brighten a new and glorious day
Vivid colors dance in my heart
When I close my eyes to pray.

There is a certain crispness here
Feel the subtle change in the air
Oh the landscapes I remember well
A yearling hovers near the mare.

No words pass between us now
When quiet comes, a mind is still
Home, my home waits for me
Just beyond this one last hill.

Home is where I truly need to be
Knowing nothing ever really ends
Each mile I whisper thanks to God
For all of my most precious friends.

"...because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse." ~Romans 1:19-20
