My Hope Is Built on...

Earlier this evening, I was in the backyard while my husband was cleaning our horse's water bucket. All of a sudden the song, My Hope Is Built, started going through my head. I began singing it out loud...quite loud actually :)...singing it to the Lord whom I love. I don't know why that song popped into my head at that particular time, but earlier this evening, I'd been thinking about our grown children...thinking about things I always want them to be sure & remember. I suppose that's why the Lord laid this song upon my heart. Anyway, it's such a lovely hymn...it speaks everything I could say about my life...simply that my hope IS built on nothing less, than JESUS' blood & righteousness. I dare NOT trust the sweetest frame, but wholly trust in JESUS' name.

by Edward Mote

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

Refrain

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

Refrain

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

Refrain

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
